Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
MauleAI is a private suite of personal-automation tools built and operated by Ryan Maule as an individual (“MauleAI”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information MauleAI accesses, how it is used and protected, and the choices available to you. It includes specific detail about data accessed through Google APIs.
1. Who this covers
MauleAI is a single-operator tool. It is not a public, multi-user service — it processes the data of its operator (Ryan Maule) and connected accounts that the operator owns and explicitly authorizes. This policy describes those data practices transparently, including for the purposes of Google API verification.
2. Information we access
MauleAI accesses only what it needs to perform a specific task:
- Email data from a connected Google account, on a read-only basis, to locate invoices and receipts and read their details and PDF attachments.
- Financial and account data from services the operator connects (for example, banking or investment data), used to produce personal summaries.
- Operational data such as logs needed to run the tools reliably.
MauleAI does not request login passwords for third-party services; access is granted through each provider's secure authorization (OAuth) and can be revoked at any time.
3. Google user data
When a Google account is connected, MauleAI uses the Gmail API with the read-only scope gmail.readonly. Specifically, MauleAI:
- Reads messages that represent invoices or receipts (for example, billing emails from vendors) and their PDF attachments, in order to extract purchase details such as vendor, date, amounts, and tax.
- Does not send, modify, label, or delete any email.
- Does not read email for any purpose other than identifying and processing the operator's own receipts and invoices.
Receipt and invoice information extracted from Google data is stored privately (see Storage & security) and may be compiled into monthly expense summaries that the operator forwards to their own accountant.
Information obtained from Gmail is not transferred to any third party except as required to provide the receipt-collection functionality described in this policy, is not used for any other purpose, and is not sold, rented, or licensed.
4. How we use information
Information is used solely to:
- Collect and organize the operator's invoices and receipts;
- Extract structured details (amounts, dates, vendors, tax) for record-keeping;
- Produce financial summaries and reports for the operator; and
- Deliver those summaries to destinations the operator chooses (such as the operator's own accountant).
MauleAI does not use this information for advertising, profiling, or training generalized AI/ML models, and does not sell or rent it.
5. Sharing & disclosure
We do not sell or rent personal data. Information is only shared:
- With service providers strictly necessary to operate the tools — for example, Google (to access email you authorize) and Slack (to deliver the operator's own summaries to the operator's accountant) — and only as directed by the operator;
- When required by law or to protect rights and safety.
This website loads typefaces from Google Fonts; when you visit, your browser requests those font files from Google, which may receive your IP address. No analytics or tracking cookies are used.
6. Limited Use
MauleAI's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In particular, Google user data is not used to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or other machine learning models.
7. Storage & security
Original receipt files and extracted data are stored on the operator's own devices and a private server with restricted access. Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections, and access credentials and tokens are stored with restricted file permissions. Access is limited to the single operator.
8. Retention & deletion
Extracted receipt and invoice details are retained only as long as needed for the operator's accounting and record-keeping. No Gmail data is retained beyond those extracted details and the operator's own receipt files; the connection to Gmail is used only to collect new receipts when the operator runs the tool. You may request deletion of Google-derived data held by MauleAI by contacting us (see Contact); we will delete it unless we are required to retain it for legal or accounting purposes.
9. Your choices
- Revoke access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. MauleAI will no longer be able to access your data.
- Request access or deletion of data MauleAI holds about you by emailing the contact below.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
